As of Monday, all Texans 16 and older can sign up to receive the coronavirus vaccine. That opens the pool of eligibility to many high school students across the state.
The regulations may vary from one district to another, but in the Richardson Independent School District, students are not required to get the COVID-19 vaccine this school year. Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Stone says parents are allowed to decide if their student under age 18 should get the shot, while those 18 and over can make their own choice.
KRLD's Chris Sommer talked with Dr. Stone about teacher vaccinations, how the district may handle the shots for younger students and about the possibility of a return to full classroom learning this fall.
