Fort Worth police reported that an off-duty officer was involved in a shooting incident following a hit-and-run on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after 4 p.m.
According to the police, the off-duty officer called 911, stating that he began following a red truck that had hit him near I-35W and Morningside Drive before driving away. During the call, the officer informed dispatch that the truck, a Ford F-150, attempted to ram his vehicle, prompting him to fire gunshots.

The vehicles eventually stopped on the southbound service road of I-35W at Bellvue Drive. Responding officers found the truck’s driver had been shot multiple times. The driver, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fort Worth police have not disclosed whether the suspect had a weapon, only stating that the officer “discharged a firearm.” The identities of both the officer and the suspect remain undisclosed, and it is unclear whether the officer will face any charges.
