Two men are in custody after a wild, early morning car chase.

Plano police say a patient at Plano Presbyterian jumped into an ambulance sitting outside the hospital and sped away. A chase ensued.

"Carrollton dispatch was able to track the ambulance and our officers were able to catch up with it," says Plano Officer Alexandra Cole.

Cole says officers from Carrollton, Plano, Dallas and the Texas DPS helped in the pursuit, with the ambulance leading them through Plano, Dallas, Addison and Farmers Branch. At one point, the driver of the ambulance made a pitstop at the Wyndham on the Creek Apartments in North East Dallas to pick up his brother. Police say the brother climbed inside the stolen ambulance, and the two men continued running from police.

Finally, Farmers Branch police stopped the ambulance near the intersection of Midway and Sigma Road. At that point, Cole says the driver jumped out and tried to flee the scene on foot.

"Farmers Branch PD caught up with him, and he was taken into custody," Cole says. "Our officers went down there and arrested him for the stolen ambulance as well as evading."

Cole says the driver's brother did not try to run, he stayed inside the ambulance. He was arrested on a couple of outstanding warrants.

The ambulance belongs to the Carrollton Fire Department. Cole says it's totally fine, and did not get damaged during the chase.
