How Arlington transformed from a quiet suburb to an event hub

Live Loews Hotel
Jerome Miron | USA TODAY Sports

Since Texas Live opened in 2018, the city of Arlington has started the development of its entertainment district. On Tuesday, Loews Hotels opened its second hotel in Arlington with more than 800 rooms and a parking garage.

One of our reporters, Alan Scaia was at the ribbon ceremony where they officially opened the new hotel. He also knows how long Arlington has wanted this development

"The [Arlington] Stadium was just there in the middle of a cornfield," Scaia said. "That was it. And now to see what it looks like with all this development around it... They always kind of had a vision for what was going to happen in that area."

This is just one step into Arlington's plan to grow as a popular location.

"They say it's going to be a year-round destination," Scaia said. "It's not just going to be Global Life Field... when the Rangers are playing, and AT&T Stadium... when the Cowboys are playing."
