The Humane Society of North Texas is collecting donations this weekend to help animals displaced by the devastating flooding in Central Texas.
The organization is accepting supplies at its Fort Worth and Keller locations to support pets affected by the flooding. Officials said the most-needed items include wet and dry dog and cat food, cases of bottled water, pet transport crates, trash bags, blankets, towels and bed sheets.
The Humane Society is partnering with Wings of Rescue, a nonprofit animal airlift organization, to fly the donated supplies to Uvalde and other flood-affected communities in Central Texas.
In addition to delivering supplies, the partnership will relocate some abandoned cats and dogs from overwhelmed Central Texas shelters to Salt Lake City, helping free up shelter space for animals rescued in the flood zone.
Donations will be accepted daily through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Humane Society's Fort Worth location. Donations will also be accepted at the Keller campus during the same hours through Saturday, as the Keller location will be closed Sunday.
Officials encourage residents who are able to donate to contribute supplies to support ongoing rescue and recovery efforts for displaced animals.
