Hurricane Harbor prepares for daily hours, new attractions

ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD)- Six Flags Hurricane Harbor will open daily for its 2021 season Friday. The park in Arlington is opening to 100% capacity.

"We do recommend everyone who has not been vaccinated still wear their masks when they're here at the park. At Hurricane Harbor, you do not have to wear a mask on the slides or in the pools, obviously," says Hurricane Harbor's Brad Malone. "We're using the honor system in terms of those who are not vaccinated."

Reservations are no longer required. Malone says Hurricane Harbor has hand sanitizing stations set up throughout the park.

"We know everyone is excited to get out of the house and have some fun," he says. "We do still have some safety protocols in place."

In addition to precautions, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is opening a new complex of water slides called, Banzai Pipeline.

The slide is designed as a four story tower with two tubes and an open air slide to allow several people to race each other.

"We have more than 40 rides and attractions, so we're always looking for the latest and greatest," Malone says. "We really thought a family-friendly body slide and attraction would be perfect. They will do a countdown at the top of the tower, and you can all go down the slide at the same time. It's always fun to see who will finish first."

People need to be at least 40 inches tall to use the slide. Malone describes the open-air slide as the "most tame of the three."

"Then you can work your way up to the thrill level of your choice with our two enclosed tubes," he says.

Malone says Hurricane Harbor will have enough staff to open to full capacity, but he says the park still has open jobs as they prepare to open daily. People can apply here.
