An accused drunk driver hit a pedestrian in Hurst around 2:30 a.m. Friday, one day before police blanket the streets for Saturation Saturday.
According to police reports, the unidentified victim hit a disabled vehicle on eastbound Airport Freeway early Friday and was outside the vehicle checking the damage when he was struck.
Hurst Police Captain Nate Duermeyer says the man was seriously hurt, but he's expected to survive.
At the scene, Police arrested 47-year-old Bamwesige Kisuuli for Intoxication Assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury.
"Ironically, this Saturday is 'Saturation Saturday,'" says Captain Duermeyer. "It's a big push by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) to increase law enforcement all across the metroplex, and obviously Hurst PD is participating in this. The arrest this morning is a great example of how dangerous it can be out there."
