I-35 northbound was completely shut down in Valley View heading towards Gainesville and Oklahoma Friday morning. One lane is now open to traffic.
The shut-down is the result of a three-vehicle wreck that TxDOT initially said led to a radioactive spill. However, the Valley View Fire Department says no radioactive material actually spilled onto the road.
Fire Chief Zack Cooper says a biohazardous medical container did open during the wreck but the material inside was contained. The only thing that spilled onto I-35 was diesel. Meanwhile, parts of I-35 northbound remain closed in the Valley View area as they clean up the accident and diesel spill. They expected clean-up to take many hours.
Most traffic is being diverted onto the service roads.
