An Arlington Police Detective who was injured in an off-duty accident last week has been discharged from a rehabilitation facility.

Detective Alan Branch was part of a group of cyclists from Lake Church in Arlington that was riding along Dottie Lynn Parkway on the morning of August 28th. A vehicle struck the group from behind, hitting several of the bicycles.

57-year-old Steven Cannon of Arlington was killed. Detective Branch was seriously injured.

Branch was originally treated at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and later moved to a rehabilitation facility. He has been released from that facility. The Arlington Police Department says he was greeted by his coworkers from the department's Child Against Children Unit as he was escorted home.

Investigators have previously said the driver involved in the wreck did stop at the scene. They do not believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.
