Police say an innocent person was killed and two people were arrested after a chase that stretched from Grand Prairie to east Dallas Friday morning.
Grand Prairie police say officers spotted a stolen pick-up truck near Pioneer Parkway and Belt Line around 2 a.m. Friday and tried to stop the truck.
"The driver took off and led them into a vehicle pursuit into the City of Dallas," says Grand Prairie Police Public Information Officer Chelsea Kretz.
Dallas Police and the Dallas County Sheriff's Department joined the chase. Deputies laid spike strips on the freeway, but the truck was not disabled
Police say the truck exited at Ross Avenue and ran a red light at Peak Street. Kretz says the truck hit another car driving through the intersection, killing the driver of the other car.
She says officers had pulled back and were getting directions from Texas DPS, which was providing air support. When they were notified about the crash, they pulled up and started giving first aid.
"At the end of the day, it's a tragedy the suspects took an innocent life," Kretz says. "No officer ever wants this type of outcome."
Kretz says two people in the truck tried to run, but both were arrested.
Police say Ramiro Sotelo, 18, and a juvenile will be charged. They say Sotelo was driving the truck.
Sotelo will be charged with murder, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest. Kretz says the pick-up truck had been stolen from Fort Worth.
Grand Prairie police are leading the criminal investigation of the stolen pick-up truck and chase. Dallas police are leading the investigation of the crash.
