On Sunday around 9:40 p.m., Dallas Police headed to the 700 block of Cantregal Street in response to an assist call.
When Dallas PD arrived at the scene, it was found that a private investigator attempted to take a suspect into custody for multiple warrants. The suspect was 29-year-old Kaland Spencer. Once the private investigator approached the suspect, Spencer tried to escape but stole a bystander's vehicle to drive away.
Spencer was shot by the investigator during the process.
Spencer was taken to a local hospital and arrested for his warrants. The warrants were an Assault on a Security Guard and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing. The Dallas County Grand Jury has been aware of the situation too.
