Investigators looking for the cause of a Fort Worth fire that damaged two homes

Investigators are still looking for the cause of a fire that heavily damaged two South Fort Worth homes Sunday.

Reports say the fire erupted at a home on East Ramsey Avenue in the Fort Worth Morningside neighborhood. By the time the fire department was called, the flames were already spreading to the home next door.

It was a challenging environment for firefighters because temperatures Sunday afternoon were 104 degrees with hot south winds gusting up to 18 miles-an-hour.

With fires at two houses simultaneously, commanders added additional manpower and they were able to get both fires knocked down within about 20 minutes.

Both families were displaced and are receiving help from the Red Cross.

Once the rubble cooled a bit Monday, investigators began going through the home where the fire started, looking for a cause but so far it's unclear.
