A couple from North Texas is describing the horror they went through with their family in Hunt, Texas during the catastrophic flash flooding.

Tad and Gina Deupree live in Irving but were in the Hill Country for the Fourth of July.

They have seen flooding before but they say no one could have predicted what happened.

Originally, they thought there was a plumbing issue until they noticed the river was at their front porch.

"We garnered the troops and said 'Put your shoes on and get up in the loft,'" Tad Deupree told KRLD's Mid-Morning Mike Check.
"The doors blew off while we were going up there."

Eventually, the family cut through dry wall and swam to the roof where they waited for hours.

"We know that we're blessed and we are very grateful to be alive," Deupree said. "People are like, glad you are okay, and I'm like we are anything but okay at this point in time."
