Townley Elementary School in Irving was closed on Thursday due to a power outage, according to the school district. The outage was caused by a transformer issue near the school, which is located at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Vilbig Street.

Oncor crews worked overnight to resolve the problem, but power had not been restored by Thursday morning. As a result, classes were canceled for the day and will remain canceled until the issue is fixed.

The district assured that students will not need to make up the lost day, thanks to additional minutes built into the school calendar. Irving ISD officials will keep Townley families informed through the school messenger phone system and text messages.
