
An Irving firefighter died in a crash in Parker County on Tuesday while riding his motorcycle off-duty, fire officials say.
Joshua Brandes, 41, was involved in a crash in Springtown along FM 51 on Tuesday afternoon. He had served the department for 13 years.
"Please keep his family, and the members of this department, in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve his loss," the Irving Fire Department wrote in a statement. "Rest in peace Brother."
Brandes also served as a reserve officer in the Decatur Police Department, where he had served as a school resource officer.
"His dedication to our community and his selfless service will always be remembered," Decatur police wrote in a statement. "Joshua's spirit and kindness touched the lives of so many, and he leaves behind a legacy of service and compassion."
