A nonprofit in Irving says it's trying to serve a huge amount of need with a decreasing amount of support, and it's asking for help.
Food for Thought is a program run by the Irving School's Foundation. It provides food for kids to take home over the weekend and on holiday breaks. But lately, the nonprofit has been serving more people with less resources.
"People were really eager to give back in early 2020 ... and things have kind of calmed down a little bit," says Sarah Thomas, Chair of the Irving School's Foundation Board of Directors. "Our need has either maintained or grown. We really need the donations, the volunteers. We still need the community's support to help feed these kiddos."
Thomas says every little bit helps. In fact, she says just $5 to $7 can feed a child for the whole weekend.
Donations can be made through the Irving School's Foundation website. You can sign up to volunteer there, as well.
