With Plano-based JC Penney emerging from bankruptcy, the new owners Simon and Brookfield have ousted CEO Jill Soltau, saying they want to bring in a "leader that is focused on modern retail, the consumer experience, and the goal of creating a sustainable and enduring -C Penney."
Soltau was brought in just two years ago after a stint as CEO at the craft retailer Joann Stores. She also had other retail managment experience at Shopko, Kohl's and Sears.
Penney sales have been falling every year since 2016.
