Just south of Tarrant County, Johnson County Sheriff Adam King has been arrested after a grand jury indicted him on felony corruption charges.

The Texas Rangers say King faces two counts of corrupt influence and one misdemeanor sexual harassment charge. He is accused of retaliating against a witness and harassing female employees in his office.

King was booked Wednesday after the indictment and is currently awaiting bond. The case follows a months-long investigation led by the Texas Rangers.

If convicted on the felony counts, King could face years in prison and removal from office. Local officials say an interim plan for leadership at the sheriff’s office is being developed as the legal process plays out.
