In Dallas lawyers will pick a jury today to hear the murder trial of one of three men accused of killing a former Oklahoma Sooner football player.
John Williams, 33, could face life in prison without parole for the May 2022 robbery and murder of Du'Vanta Lampkin.
The former OU defensive tackle was shot to death outside his apartment on Ervay street in Dallas May, 5th, 2022. Police say it was a setup for a robbery that went bad. Two others are co-defendants.
One is still awaiting trial and the other, Antwan Franklin, was to stand trial last year but fled just as his case was being called for trial. He is still on the run.
Lampkin played defensive tackle for OU from 2015 through 2018. He was a member of the Tennessee Titans practice squad for a brief while.
