
GRAPEVINE, Texas — A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday evening at Grapevine Lake when a kayaker was fatally struck by a jet ski operator who fled the scene.
The collision occurred near Oak Grove Park around 5:20 p.m., prompting emergency response from the Grapevine Fire Department and Texas Game Wardens.
Upon arrival, responders found the kayaker with severe trauma. Despite administering advanced life support measures, the individual was later pronounced dead at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine.
The victim's identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities report that the jet ski operator did not remain at the scene, and an active investigation is underway to locate the suspect.
The Texas Game Wardens and Grapevine Police Department are leading the search and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
This incident has cast a somber tone over the Memorial Day weekend, a time when many flock to local lakes for recreation. Officials are reminding the public to exercise caution and adhere to safety regulations while on the water.
