Keller ISD trustees named a new, interim superintendent early Friday morning at the end of Thursday night's hours-long school board meeting. Trustees appointed Assistant Superintendent Cory Wilson without taking a vote on whether to accept the resignation of Superintendent Tracy Johnson.

Johnson, who served in the role for about a year, was absent from the meeting.

Johnson has publicly opposed reported plans to divide the district into two, though trustees have not commented on whether that played a role in her resignation.

Wilson has been with Keller ISD for more than two decades, starting as a teacher before moving into administrative roles. He previously served as an assistant principal, and principal of Ridgeview Elementary, and later held leadership positions in the district’s central office.
