Keller (1080 KRLD) - Police in Keller are tracking an increase in calls to 9-1-1 about people shooting Airsoft-style pellet guns in public places.
Police say many of these incidents are happening near businesses. They're concerned that bystanders may not realize the difference between an Airsoft gun and a handgun. They're especially worried that a bystander with a real firearm may choose to take action during a perceived threat.
Keller Police say many of the incidents involving Airsoft guns involve children or young adults who are simply playing a game. They're urging parents to remind their kids about the safe areas for using Airsoft-type guns and the potential consequences of using them in public.
"We want your kids to have a ton of fun this summer, and to come home safely to you every day," the department wrote on its Facebook page.
