Klyde Warren Park will hold its Independence Day celebration on Saturday evening. The park opened in 2012, and the party Saturday is part of its 10th anniversary celebration.

"It's one the many free opportunities for the community to participate in celebrating this moment in time for Klyde Warren Park in, really, uniting this city physically over a highway," said Klyde Warren Park President Kit Sawers.

Food trucks will open at 7 p.m. Also at 7, the 36th Infantry Division Band will start playing.

"The buildings are perfectly positioned to block the sun around that time of day around a big portion of the lawn, so it should be a cool evening in the low-90s," Sawers said, laughing.

The 36th Infantry Division will start with its brass band at 7, followed by its "Rhythm & Boots" band at 8.

Fireworks begin at 9:30.

"It's fireworks in the middle of the city. They're shot off over Woodall Rodgers [Freeway]," Sawers said. "It's kind of a cool view with the buildings around it."

People can bring their own food and drinks, but glass bottles and alcohol are not allowed.

The event is free, but to gauge how many to expect Saturday, Klyde Warren Park is asking people to RSVP here.
