They're wrong and it's tough to turn them off. It can give you recommendations for something new, but it does it the old way, by getting those suggestions from your friends.
You can use it to share your tastes. You can find new favorites. You post in the app the things you've been into.
Find out what your friends are into that you might not know about.
You can ask your friends for some recommendations about a cool new restaurant or a cool place to find vintage clothes. Find a new movie to see or some great new music.
Pick a topic and find some recommendations. You can see where events are going on and share what events you're checking out.
The app brings the control back to you, and away from the social media corporations and their algorithms.
