Lake Worth police have five people locked up after officers pulled a car over Wednesday and found it full of stolen perfume from the Ulta Beauty store at Lake Worth Towne Crossing.
Police got a call from the store and when they arrived, they saw the car the caller had described. The officers lit it up but the driver was not about to stop. But he did slow down enough for a man to bail out, and he was quickly chased down and arrested.
The car kept going but eventually the driver gave it up and four more people were hauled to jail.
In the car, officers confiscated several bags of Ulta products, many of which still had the store security tags on them. Police also found tools like snips and Mylar-lined bags often used by organized shoplifting gangs.
Often called Booster Bags, the Mylar lining provides electromagnetic shielding, with the result that electronic security tags inside the bag may not be detected by security machines at store exits.
The merchandise was worth about $10,000. The five suspects identified as Kristi Spencer, Ed Kindles, Asia Hall, Harvey Henry and Lajuana Blanco are all up on charges of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
Kindles, the driver, was also charged with evading arrest.
