Even though the Lancaster school board is buying out the superintendent's new contract, they are not willing to tell taxpayers how much it's going to cost.
Yesterday, the board of trustees voted 4-to-3 to buy Elijah Granger out of his $1.6 million deal that was extended only twelve days ago.
The extended contract pays Granger more than $300,000 a year for five years.
One provision of the deal forces the district to pay Granger all the remaining money if he's released. But nobody is saying why Granger was bought out. And Granger isn't talking about it, either.
As reported by the Dallas Morning News, the three trustees who voted against the buyout tried but failed to get a temporary restraining order to prevent Monday's meeting.
The reason they asked - they had not been supplied with a copy of the separation agreement to even learn what they would be voting on.
