The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office and district attorney are not mincing words this holiday season. They say there's no excuse for driving drunk.

Extra patrols are already on the road cracking down on impaired drivers. Meanwhile, Dallas police said they have had extra patrols on the roads for almost a week.

More than 1,100 people were killed in crashes involving impaired drivers in Texas last year. First time drunk driving offenders are usually fined $2,000 and sentenced to 180 days in jail, but could get up to a year behind bars.
