Gateway Church, the largest church in North Texas, is named in a lawsuit alleging the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl by a fellow youth group member.

The lawsuit names Gabriel Snyder, who was 17 at the time of the alleged assaults and has since turned 18. Snyder was indicted in 2017 on charges of indecency with a child and sexual assault, and he is currently serving a four-year prison sentence.

The lawsuit, filed by the victim and her parents, accuses Gateway Church of negligence, asserting that the assaults occurred outside the church campus between December 2016 and December 2017. The plaintiffs allege that the church failed to take appropriate measures to prevent the abuse.
