The city of Lewisville lifted its boil water notice Monday afternoon.

Test results for water quality came back early Monday afternoon. It passed all qualifications for water safety. This means Lewisville's water supply is safe to consume, but city officials urge citizens to clean out their water systems before consumption. In a Facebook post, Lewisville City Hall named some steps to take to drink or use water safely.

It included steps like running your faucets for 5 minutes, discarding old ice that might have the contaminated water within, run an empty dishwasher cycle, and more. You can read in the post for more:

City officials said that the cause for the notice was due to one 30-inch water main failing. That is one of the largest pipes in Lewisville’s water distribution system. Water service was restored within three hours, as predicted earlier.

The notice did cause 21 Lewisville ISD school to be closed Monday.

Lewisville ISD will provide updates on the status of school operations for the Tuesday.
