LEWISVILLE (1080 KRLD)- A Lewisville school bus rammed into a retaining wall while driving on the I-35 express lanes near Business 121.
"You know how those walls have crumple canisters at the very beginning? The yellow barriers that are designed to prevent you from crashing head-on onto the barrier? It looks like the school bus hit those crash barriers," says Matt Martucci, with the City of Lewisville. "And it took the front axle off the bus."
The bus driver was taken to the hospital with injuries and is expected to be okay. Two other vehicles were involved in the crash, but nobody else was hurt. No students were on the bus at the time it crashed.
Police say the bus was likely going about 60 to 65 miles per hour. No word yet on what caused the accident. Police say the area will be closed for a couple of hours while crews clean up and investigate.
