City leaders in Lewisville are working to increase the availability of affordable housing as they pursue a federal grant.
Several years ago, a study indicated the city needed more than 4,500 units of affordable or mid-income housing. In response, officials are preparing an application for a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. City leaders said the funds would encourage the development of duplexes and townhomes.
A public hearing on the issue was held Monday night, with the city continuing to accept public comments through Thursday.
