Two homes in Frisco caught fire after lightning struck them during the storms that ripped through North Texas on Tuesday.

The two homes are located in the Hollyhock subdivision. According to a report from our media partner NBC 5, the lightning struck around 7:24 a.m. right after Frisco resident Michael Youseff had taken out the trash.

"The minute I walk in, big bam," he told NBC 5.

In the same subdivision, Jeny Harding, her husband and daughter took shelter in a closet earlier in the morning after hearing emergency sirens.

"It was extremely loud. It sounded like a transformer explosion," she told NBC 5.

"Not once in a million years did we think this was going to happen."

She says she started to smell smoke and walked outside to see her neighbors house on fire and began comforting her neighbors.

"As I was comforting her, I see my house is on fire and so we had to run to my house to get my baby out," she said.
