ARLINGTON, TX (1080 KRLD) -- A small horse -- or maybe a pony -- is now back with his owners after he was found running loose in Arlington this week.

Police say a patrol officer looked up and saw the little fella trotting past the East District Station on New York Avenue a little north of Pioneer Parkway. Where he came from was a total mystery. But using snacks (carrots and apples) from their lunch boxes, the officers lured him into the station's secured parking lot where he'd be safe.

They got ahold of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office which generally takes in loose livestock. While waiting for deputies to arrive, the Arlington officers let the horse (or pony) nibble on the grass by the station's back door.

Yesterday, the Sheriff's Office let Arlington PD know the owner had been located. By the way, there IS a difference between a small horse and a pony -- they are different in bone structure, musculature and overall body proportions. But often it takes a real practiced eye to tell them apart.
