
It's a very unusual story out of Duncanville where a live artillery shell has turned up in a man's backyard.
Police report getting a 9-1-1 call from someone on Circle Drive, a few blocks east of Main Street in Duncanville on Thursday afternoon.
Police reports say a man had been digging in his backyard and found something that looked like a missile. The Dallas Police Department's bomb squad was called in and several nearby homes were evacuated.
Dallas police determined the object was a live artillery shell. They called the Air Force's explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) team for help.
Police say there was no risk to the public and they believe the shell had been left at the home by the previous owner who was a military veteran.
