Macy's is closing two North Texas stores permanently. It's part of the retailers plan to close 125 stores by 2023.

Employees at the Macy's in Lewisville at Music City Mall and in Denton at the Golden Triangle Mall have already been notified those stores are closing for good.

It could take up to 12 weeks for the stores to shut down. Macy's is planning clearances sales to try and get rid of merchandise.

Macy's will try and transfer some employees to other stores and workers who are not transferred will get severance pay.

Nine stores in the DFW area remain open, along with Macy's new off-mall concept called Market by Macy’s at Southlake Town Square.

Macy's says another Market location is planned for Fort Worth.
