Majority of Allen ISD $222M bond package approved

The majority of a $222 million bond package in the Allen ISD has won approval from voters. The bond package was broken up in to four different propositions on the November 3rd ballot, with results for the largest portion of the bond package too close to call until all the votes were counted.

Proposition A includes $189 million for renovations at Allen High School and several middle schools, plus new campus security equipment and new school buses. It passed by 18 votes. The final total was 24,064 votes in favor and 24,046 against.

Propositions B and C both failed. They would have set aside money to replace turf at some athletic fields and renovate the district's tennis court.

Proposition D passed by a comfortable margin of several thousand votes. It will cover $25 million for wireless computers for students and district employees.

"On behalf of Allen ISD, I want to thank our community for supporting Propositions A and D," said Superintendent Robin Bullock. "These projects will help Allen ISD maintain our long-standing tradition of excellence, and they will provide our staff with the resources they need to prepare our students for their future."
