Morfin was arrested in Mesquite early yesterday shortly after gunfire wounded a Dallas police sergeant who was among several officers responding to reports of a man trying to break into an apartment in the Lake Highlands neighborhood.
Police say Morfin opened fire on them, striking the sergeant in his gun hand. He is still in the hospital in stable condition.
Morfin escaped briefly but was captured by Mesquite police. After being questioned by Dallas detectives, he was booked into the Dallas County Jail just before 5 p.m. yesterday.
