A Frisco man accused of taking his children hostage and engaging in a shootout with police is set to plead guilty to nine felony charges, court records show.
Lawrence Porath’s charges stem from a June 9, 2022, incident when Frisco police responded to reports that he had violated a protective order and unlawfully entered his home. Upon their arrival, officers were met with gunfire, and Porath barricaded himself inside the house with his children.
According to neighbors, police distracted Porath at the front of the house, allowing them to safely rescue the children through the back.
Court documents indicate that while Porath will plead guilty, he has opted to have a jury determine his punishment. The date for sentencing has not yet been set.
