A man and a baby have been killed in a high-speed, single car crash in east Dallas over the weekend.
Police arrived at the scene on East Grand Avenue near Tenison Park and found a very grim scene. A car driven by a man named James Bernard had hit the curb and then smashed into a tree. The impact was on the driver's side and Bernard was killed on impact.
His passengers, a woman and baby, were taken to the hospital where the infant was pronounced dead.
Police say the baby was not in an approved car seat. In fact, the baby was held unrestrained on the woman's lap.
