A man is under arrest after authorities say he threatened to detonate a bomb at a federal immigration facility in Dallas Monday evening.
Investigators say 35-year-old Bratton Dean Wilkinson walked up to the entrance of the ICE field office near North Stemmons Freeway around 6:30 p.m. and told security officers he had explosives in his backpack and a detonator strapped to his wrist.
The building was immediately placed on lockdown as police and a bomb squad rushed to the scene. Officials say the all-clear was given less than an hour later, and no explosives were found.
Wilkinson is charged with making a terroristic threat. Homeland Security officials say the incident comes amid a sharp rise in threats and assaults against immigration officers nationwide.
