Mesquite Police arrested a young adult Tuesday night after he sexually assaulted an ex at her high school in the bathroom.
Police identified 19-year-old Synniaz Elijah as the suspect. He entered Horn High School campus at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday unauthorized. Police determined that Elijah was able to go inside the building because of a student who opened an exterior door for him.
The suspect was then able to track down the vitum who he had a previous relationship with and assaulted her on campus with a weapn. He forced he to go into a bathroom where the sexual assualt occured.
After the incident, a nearby teacher found the two of them, and while the teacher was trying to identify him, Elijah ran away from the school.
Mesquite Police found Elijah at 9:45 later that day and took him into custody. He is charged with aggravated sexual assault. Police are still investigating the situation.
