Plano Police arrested a man early Tuesday morning following an hours long stand off.

Plano Police say it started around 10:30 p.m. Monday when a woman ran into a business on Preston Road saying the father of her young kids had shot her.

When police arrived they went looking for the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Timothy Young, and found him in a parked car near Ohio Drive. Police say Young was in the vehicle with his three children and refused to come out.

Dozens of officers reported to the scene as emergency services took over. Young was quietly taken into custody several hours later.

Young has been booked into the Collin County jail on assault charges. Officials say the kids were not physically hurt and their mother is at the hospital where she is listed in stable condition.

Plano police say the family is believed to be homeless with no ties to Plano.
