
A 21-year-old man faces murder charges in two cities after deadly shootings in Dallas and Mesquite last week, police say.
The first shooting took place Thursday just after 11 p.m. in the 1700 block of W. Bruton Road in Mesquite, police said.
Police said the caller told dispatch that a man entered a business and started to shoot. When officers arrived, they found 60-year-old Muhammad Hussain of Carrollton with mulitple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The second shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 8600 block of Lake June Road in Dallas, police said.
Police said the gunman entered a business, shot the victim, and stole merchandise before he fled the scene. The victim, 32-year-old Gopi Krishna Dasari, was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
Less than an hour later, Mesquite police said an officer spotted the suspect's vehicle, and after a short pursuit, arrested 21-year-old Davonta Mathis. He faces charges of capital murder and evading arrest in Mesquite and a separate capital murder charge in Dallas.
