A 27-year-old man has been charged with capital murder after Dallas police say he stabbed two people to death early Saturday near the Deep Ellum DART station.

According to investigators, officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the area of Elm Street and North Crowdus Street shortly before dawn. Two victims were found suffering from stab wounds and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where both later died.

Police said the suspect was also injured during the incident and was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries before being released into custody. He was later booked into the Dallas County Jail on two counts of capital murder.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, pending notification of next of kin. Investigators have not publicly detailed what led up to the stabbings or whether the victims and suspect knew one another.

The scene sits just steps from the Deep Ellum DART station, a busy transit hub surrounded by nightlife venues and apartments. The stabbings prompted a heavy police response and temporarily disrupted activity in the area as detectives processed the scene.

Dallas police said the investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Dallas Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
