A Tarrant County jury convicted a man of capital murder Wednesday for the 2021 slayings of three people whose dismembered remains were found in a burning dumpster.

Jason Alan Thornburg, 41, claimed he killed the man and two women at the direction of God, but the jury rejected his insanity defense after deliberations.

Thornburg has also been linked to two other murders — his ex-girlfriend and a former roommate.

Sentencing begins Thursday, where prosecutors are expected to seek the death penalty. Defense attorneys are likely to argue for a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
