A man accused of driving a stolen Plano fire engine is now behind bars in Dallas where he was arrested over the weekend.

Police say the fire truck was stolen from a storage yard in Balch Springs on Saturday. Not long afterward, officers saw the apparatus in downtown Dallas near Harwood and Main.

Police pulled over the vehicle and arrested the driver, a man named Jose Mora. He's now jailed on a charge of theft of property costing $300,000 or more.

There's also a charge for a probation violation for a count of harassing a public servant.

Meanwhile, the fire engine was taken to a Dallas fire house for safe-keeping until someone from Plano Fire-Rescue could pick it up.
