Man drowns trying to save teen in Lake Waxahachie, police say

A 21-year-old man drowned at Lake Waxahachie on Saturday after he jumped into the water to try to rescue a teenage girl, police say.

The incident happened around 12:45 p.m. Saturday at Boat Dock Park, Waxahachie police said.

Police said the 21-year-old man tried to save the teenage girl, who was later pulled out of the water by a boater from Red Oak. Bystanders performed CPR on the girl, who was revived.

The 21-year-old was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

According to reports, the accident happened during a baptism.
