The man accused of carrying out a brutal blindside attack that sent a woman to the hospital has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, according to police records.
The incident occurred last week when the victim, an employee of the Dallas County District Clerk's office, was waiting to cross the street near Field and Elm streets. Security footage of the attack, which has gone viral, shows a man striking her from behind with an object resembling a club or baseball bat.
The woman's employer reported that she is recovering and remains in good spirits following the incident.
