A Fort Worth man who admitted to killing a man with a deadly dose of heroin in 2013 is back behind bars after federal authorities filed firearm charges against him.

Brennan Rodriguez, 33, faces allegations of possessing a firearm while on probation and illegally modifying the weapon to function as a machine gun. In 2013, Rodriguez injected a man with a fatal dose of heroin and pleaded guilty to the charge the following year, receiving a 10-year deferred adjudication sentence, a probationary term that prohibits firearm possession.

Rodriguez's latest legal troubles began two months ago when he was arrested for allegedly stalking, harassing, and threatening his former girlfriend. The woman informed police about a fully automatic gun Rodriguez reportedly owned, prompting a search of his home. Authorities seized the modified gun along with eight additional firearms.

Rodriguez now faces potential state charges for probation violations and could be sentenced to up to 10 years in federal prison on the new firearm charges.
