The man killed by DeSoto police this week has been identified as a Dallas school teacher.
Reports say a man identified as Michael Nunez was killed Monday.
Police were sent to a home on South Polk when the homeowner called to say a man was burglarizing the home.
Outside the home, police were confronted by a man and police say he had a weapon. An officer said the man advanced on him so the officer opened fire, killing him.
The Dallas school district has confirmed that Nunez was a special needs teacher at Molina High School. Nunez was shot just before noon Monday.
It's not clear why Nunez was not at school at the time.
